No Timur, Genghis Khan, Kublai Khan? They had unprecedented military success, and single-handedly were responsible for killing off huge swathes of the world's population. I expected to see at least one of them on here.

Yeah, it's a weak list. Comparatively, having there Wellington or Grant makes little sense.

Interesting exercise, this ranking being an attempt to apply advanced analytics used in baseball (specifically Wins Above Replacement or WAR) to success as a general. The first ranked general was apparently way above replacement level, with a huge gap between him and the runner up.

Interesting that several of the frequently encountered names on such lists are missing here, including several from the USA, the Confederate States of America, UK, France, Germany, and several old Asian empires like Persia or the Mongols.
