It wasn't the BBC who actually changed the lyric, but because of their rules regarding advertising, the Kinks changed the the lyric in Lola from "Coca Cola" to "Cherry Cola" so that the single could get airplay on BBC Radio.

The original version is on their 1970 LP: 'Lola Versus Powerman And The Moneygoround, Part One'
