What is Third World supposed to mean and how the hell are Switzerland and Macedonia together in it?

Absolutely, you must have a very esoteric definition of "Third World" to include Austria, Liechtenstein, Ireland, Sweden, Switzerland and Finland in it!

Third World doesn't technically refer to the level of development in its original definition, but rather who they sided with in the Cold War. (First, sided with USA, Second, Sided with USSR, Third, Neutral)

The concept of “Worlds” is actually from the Cold War - First World for the American bloc, Second World for the Soviet bloc, and Third World for neutral/non-aligned countries. That’s how countries like Switzerland are *technically* in the Third World. The idea of the Third World referring to less economically developed countries was a post-Cold War capitalist notion, that came about when you juxtapose the Global North/South divide.
