Guess which country it is given its Chinese name in pinyin
Foriegn country names are transliterated into Chinese using words with the closest pronunciation
Names are usually transliterated from their native language, e.g. Germany is tranliterated into "de-yi-zhi" which comes from Deutschland
Sometimes names were transliterated originally using Cantonese or Shanghaiese, therefore it doesn't sound close if spoken in Mandarin
