Real Life's Greatest Plot Twists

+1

We all love a good plot twist, don't we? One second, the main character in a horror movie finds the exit out of a haunted house and begins running towards it, but just as the thought they attained freedom, they fall through a trapdoor into another room. In my opinion, some of the real-life history's plot twists are truly remarkable. For example, did you know that when the Mongols set out in some ships to conquer Japan, they were unable to conquer it? The reason is that a typhoon destroyed their fleet. They tried again, and a typhoon, once again, destroyed their fleet, so they didn't try again! Here are some more funny ones:

1. The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary was a do-over. When he took his fateful open-top car tour through Sarajevo, an assassin from a cult led by Gavrilo Princip threw bombs at his car but missed and blew up some officers behind the Archduke instead. The assassin panicked and, swallowing a cyanide pill, jumped into a nearby river. The problem was that the cyanide made him not die, but vomit. Additionally, the river was only 6" deep so he was caught easily. Princip, depressed over the failure of the plan, went to go have lunch in a nearby café. Meanwhile, the Archduke decided to go visit the injured soldiers in the hospital, but his driver took a wrong turn, and the car stalled... right outside the restaurant where Princip had just finished lunch. Princip walked outside and found the Archduke right there, so he just shot him.

2. When the tomb of Timur Khan was opened in 1941, discovered was an inscription that read "Whoever opens my tomb shall unleash an invader deadlier than I." Two days later, Adolf Hitler invaded the Soviet Union...

3. Not a plot twist, but just plain funny -

George Washington's slaves were to be freed after his wife Martha's death. Of course, that made the slaves want her to die. The thing was, that Martha Washington felt uncomfortable living with people who were waiting for her to die, so she freed them before her death.

4. When Germany was defeated in World War I, the French made them sign the official armistice in a train car. When Germany steamrolled through France in World War II, they made France sign the armistice in the exact same train car in the exact same place. But when the Germans were driven out of France later in the war, they took the car to Berlin and burned it so that they wouldn't have to sign any more armistices in it.

5. A Korean soldier (I forgot his name) rose through the ranks and became general. He then saved Korea from Japanese occupation. But, he was framed for a crime and jailed. As a result, he lost his military rank. After being freed from jail, he reenlisted in the military at the bottom and rose through the ranks, becoming general again. He then saved Korea from a Japanese invasion AGAIN!

This is all I'm going to write in this blog entry. Stay tuned for a part 2!
