Why I love Geography (random)
Geography is interesting because despite popular beliefs: it is changing every day. There are so many random fun facts and knowledge you can get from just looking at a map as well as knowing where on earth the country of Kyrgyzstan is (let alone how to spell it)
Geography makes the world seem a lot smaller in a way. Understanding how many countries there are in a area and their qualities makes you catch onto so many patterns and see that we're all just humans.
Language is also interesting because you can see how similar languages are to each other, how it spreads, and how it's all connected.
For instance, I'm a native Polish speaker, a Slavic language, yet I see so many similarities that it shares with Spanish (romance language) and even Arabic!
Flags are also interesting because they can tell you a lot about a particular place. Each country has a flag and within that country there are smaller nations and municipalities that have their own flags. Flags, like geography, are also subject to change. Whether it be the meaning behind it, the colors, the design, or even the dimensions.
Favorite flags
I have decided to list a few of my favorite flags, and why I like them!
Number 1: Estonia.
Estonia's flag is absolutely beautiful. The blue is an uncommon shade and the combo with the black brings out the hues. The flag's meaning is also very interesting because it represents Estonia winter landscape. The white is the snow, the black is the thick dark forests, and the blue represents the winter blue sky. Flags with an uncommon meaning behind them ,such as nature, stand out to me because you can imagine the country and its qualities just from flag, which in my opinion is a well designed flag.
Number 2: Luxembourg
Luxembourg has similar qualities to the Estonian flag. The blue is beautiful and the arrangements of the colors is really nice. The main reason I like this flag is because it reminds me of the red white and blue bomb-pop popsicles I'd eat in the summer as a kid.
Number 3: Nepal
This list wouldn't be complete without the Nepalese flag.
The dimensions and the colors and the design is just chefs kiss! I wish more flags did more interesting things with their flags dimensions (kinda like Switzerland)
Number 4: North Macedonia
I'll give you a moment to admire this flag for a second........
I love love love this flag! It stands for the sun and has done a wonderful job portraying that. I love the color scheme since it is uncommon in flags and the design is unlike any other I've seen
Number 5: Albania
Last but not least: the Albanian flag. This flag gives me the chills whenever I see it. A moving flag is an instant check on my list of cool flags. The 2 headed bird and red and black combo really captures the eeriness of certain Albanian places.
Ending
As my first blog post, I apologize for any weird formatting or unsual blabbering. Thank you for reading and hopefully I'll post soon!
