The Blog Games: Week 0 - Introduction

The Blog Games!

Welcome - The Introduction

Welcome to the Blog Games! This is a new possible thing I am going to be doing for possibly the next few weeks, and depending on how it goes, maybe even the next few months. I always wished there were just a few more blogs that were better quality in JetPunk (No offense).  So I am hoping that this new game that I am doing might help with that. The Blog Games are going to be starting each week, starting at 12:00 AM EST/5 AM BST/9 PM PST every Tuesday (Monday for PST). The main objective of the game is to try to make the best blog each week, and I will be judging every single blog that is posted each week. Eventually, I might consider "hiring" new people as judges to help with the judging of the game, also depending on how well this new concept I'm creating works. ChineseChen will also be helping me throughout.

How Will This Be Judged?

The five things that I am going to be judging the games and blogs on are going to be stated below:

- Formatting

- Grammar/Spelling

- Appeal

- Content/Information

- Creativity/Uniqueness

There is no rubric, I'm not gonna act like a teacher ;)

What Will Happen?

Every week at 12:00 AM EST/5 AM BST/9 PM PST on Tuesday (Monday for PST), the winners from the previous week will be chosen. I am not trying to mix up other people's schedules, so any blog posted after 12:00 AM EST/5 AM BST/9 PM PST on Tuesday (Monday for PST) will count for the next week. There will be 5 (possibly more) winners each week no matter how many blogs are posted. Also, if I feel like a blog is liked enough and had a good score, I will add a few honorable mentions. Also, every week I would like to welcome the new bloggers that come to the site to hopefully try to make the blogging community a better place! Also, you do not have to sign up to compete in the blog competition, I am just judging all blogs posted each week. If I select your blog and you do not want it to appear, please comment and I will remove it.

Why?

I am doing this because I feel like many people are still trolling with blogs and with the new blog update and making it easier to post and make blogs, trolls or not, there will most likely be more spam blogs in general. I want to try and rid these blogs and others that plagiarise, and trolls in general so other people can enjoy good blogs from others and overall make the community on JetPunk a much better place.

Any Future Plans?

I don't have many future plans for this friendly "competition" I am going to be hosting, but I do have one I will like to share. This is, after possibly a few weeks I would like to add maybe another judge or two to help with scoring the blogs from each week. I think this is a good idea to add, but I still want to try and see if this idea takes off in the community and see if anybody has the time to help with it as well.

also as long as if you want to compete, you can follow the criteria if you want as well to try to win for week 1 or any other future weeks.

I have a blog coming out in a few days... Will that count for anything or is the challenge not started for this week yet?

Should we inform you of our blog when we post it, or should we make some reference to "The Blog Games" in our post?

you do not have to sign up, the only thing is that you do not make the blog private so I cant see, I will be grading all blogs every week, so that means you could be in the top 5 for week 1 if you make a blog following the criteria.

Am I for some reason automatically excluded from this, or do you really feel my Create Update blog, as well as my whole Blog Editor series are just not worthy of being included?

We do not feel like you shouldn't be included, but just that the moderation and update blogs shouldn't be included. Other blogs of yours can be included, and we don't want to exclude anyone from the blog games. It is sort of similar to what we do for the celebration blogs for new bloggers, we don't feel the need to grade them on criteria, it doesn't feel right to criticize someone's blog when they are celebrating something they accomplished. You also don't have to compete if you don't want to as well.

So I can understand the Create blog and moderation blogs, since they're featured ones and such that are more "adminy" than others.

However, what you've said here doesn't seem to exclude the Blog Editor series I did, which were purely tutorial that anybody could have made. I would personally like to be considered for non-update blogs, but based on what you've said there's no reason the Blog Editor series shouldn't have been at least acknowledged?
