Only if you consider the United Nations obscure; they have Cyprus classified as a part of Western Asia, and JetPunk does seem to follow the UN listing consistently.
Also, for a change, could we debate the location of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia?
okay, jetpunk doesnt always follow the UN, as jetpunk counts taiwan and kosovo, which the UN does not, and the UN counts Palestine, which jetpunnk does not. that being said, i think its weird seeing cyprus as asian as its half greek half turish ethnicity and is in the EU
got them all, but got mixed up between Andorra and Moldova. They are VERY similar!! The only thing that is different is the symbol in the middle. Now I have to study the differences between the two.
Quizmaster, can you make it so every time you reload the page the flags mix around? or maybe a button to mix them? that way it would be harder and more fun.
Could you please accept FYROM for Macedonia? There are quite a few countries which do not use the term "Macedonia" for this particular country (e.g. Greece)
I know the M stands for Macedonia, but Macedonia is a wider region that includes a significant part of Greece. Using the name "Macedonia" is something like using the name "Scandinavia" for Sweden or "Iberia" for Spain. The use of the name "Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia prevents historical and geographical misunderstandings, which is why countries like Greece object to the international use of the name "Macedonia".
So although I am not questioning the use of the term "Macedonia" here, since it is widely accepted, I don't see why FYROM can't be accepted as an alternative answer
Which other country on Earth is called Macedonia? It's more like calling the United States of America simply "America." I suppose they could accept both, but then, they should also start accepting PRC for China, DPRK for North Korea, ROK for South Korea, KSA for Saudi Arabia and so on.
It may not be an entire country, but Greek Macedonia does exist and has also linked itself with some rich history under that precise name, unlike countries in the American continent other than the USA. For example, to say that Alexander the Great was a Macedonian and imply that he is linked more closely with FYROM is a mistake and actually deprives Greeks of a part of their national heritage. This is why "Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia" is a full name that is more substantial than "Kingdom of Saudi Arabia".
Alexander the Great was not linked to either the modern nation state of Macedonia or the modern nation state of Greece. To assert either is absurd in the extreme and just shows that you have bought into one or the other country's nationalistic propaganda. Both the Macedonian and Greek nationalism movements originated at approximately the same time. "Greek" as an ethnicity wasn't a thing until pretty recently. And like all nationalist movements the Greek one required a creation myth at its center. So did the Macedonian. It's not our fault that they happened to overlap. Realistically, Alexander probably impregnated so many people that it's quite likely you are both right (and wrong). Macedonia as an ancient region encompassed all of present day Greek Macedonia/Thrace and all of the present day nation state of Macedonia as well as small parts of neighboring countries. It makes no sense to accept a name for a country that that country didn't choose or want picked by their neighbors.
At least I know the flags now but for some reason when flags are exactly identical like romania and chad I guess and I'm somehow I'm always right. WEIRD!
"In 2013, Czech president Miloš Zeman recommended the wider official use of Czechia,[34] and on 14 April 2016, the country's political leadership agreed to make Czechia the official short name. The new name was approved by the Czech cabinet on 2 May 2016[35] as the Czech Republic's official short name and was published in the United Nations UNTERM and UNGEGN country name databases on July 5th, 2016"
It's also the last flag in the quiz, and sometimes people give up on quizzes before getting to the end, so the last one will always have plenty of people not getting it.
That is not it, cause I just took another quiz where kosovo was not last at all and still it was one of the least guessed ones.
I was shocked.. I didnt know the flag either, but went like ok their is a country shape on thaat flag, so which country matches it... and it was a quiz WITH A MAP so you just had to look..
Love these kind of quizzes but for a change it would be better if instead of the UK you have them seperate so you see the flags of England, Scotland an Wales
I will never distinguish the sets of flags in ex-Yugoslavia / Slovakia, Arabic countries or Central America that make no effort to have unique symbols of themselves that stand out.
The people who made these flags: "Hey, you know what would be a good idea? Let's make all of these flags the exact same but with different coloured stripes and sometimes a symbol in the middle!"
thats a pretty tough quiz!!

It's an Asian country. It's like saying Egypt is in Asia because of Sinai. Just don't get the logic.
