I would not call some of these Pop music. But I feel like that term is used for certain songs where you're not quite sure what it is.

Pop music is music that is popular, you can't deny that these songs have been and were popular, pop music tends to be more modern music too.

Pop music has nothing to do with being modern.

Pop music tends to be quite modern, I wouldn't call anything before the 90s pop

So nothing before the '90s is modern? Ever hear of Tony Bennett, Elton John, Michael Jackson, Olivia Newton-John, Linda Ronstadt, or Paul McCartney? Check the definition. Pop music originated in the 1950s, and I agree with RogerM there should be a wider range of years than one Elvis thrown in for us oldsters. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pop_music

Let me guess, you grew up in the 90s? Plenty of pop music from earlier generations (and yes, it was even called "pop").

Michael Jackson was literally called "The King of Pop" in the '80s.

I wouldn't really describe as Oasis as a pop band?

I think of them as alternative, but point taken. There are a number on here though that could be considered not-pop. Hammer and Smith are rappers. Are the R&B artists here considered pop?

As others have mentioned, the selection seems odd - basically songs from 1990 forward, EXCEPT one from 1968?? Seems like a better approach would be to cover the genre from its beginnings to the present, OR break it into decades or eras.
