Name WWII US + Japan + UK Aircraft Carriers

Can you guess all the aircraft fleet carriers used by these 3 powers during the pacific war? For history buffs, this excludes light carriers (CVL) and escort carriers (CVE). It is only the large fleet carriers. (CV) Any fleet carrier built before or during the war and saw service in the Pacific War is listed.

It's Hancock, not Handcock; slight misspelling there.

For Japanese carriers, you forgot the Junyo and Hiyo

Overall, great quiz.

I did not include those because they were light aircraft carriers, I only wanted to include fleet carriers.Thank you though!

Pretty sure Hermes and Unicorn were CVLs. And replace Implaceable with Implacable. Besides that, nice quiz.

The Hiyo and Junyo weighed in at 25,000 tons each. They were not light carriers. They were considered auxilliary carriers because of their slower speed, but wound up fighting with the fleet anyway. Hiyo was sunk in the Battle of the Philippine Sea. This quiz misses a number of early British carriers--Furious, Glorious, Courageous and Ark Royal. The first three were converted battle cruisers.

Auxiliary carriers or not, I believe that they are not fleet carriers for the simple reason that they were not fast enough to launch B5N2 torpedo bombers - even the lumbering Kaga could accomplish that. And it specifically mentions the Pacific War - Courageous, Glorious and Ark Royal had already been sunk by 7th December 1941, and Furious spent her career in the Atlantic.

It's IMPLACABLE. Unicorn was not a fleet carrier and Hermes had fewer aircraft than Hosho or any of the Japanese light carriers....

Alright Quiz, but missing out Hiyo and Junyo is not correct as they were Fleet carriers also why is this called WW2 aircraft carriers if you are only including ships in the pacific theatre as that is not all carriers in WW2 like your title says

Why is Ark Royal not considered a fleet carrier?

Well meaning interesting quiz but with so many mistakes as to be almost useless. HMS Pioneer was a maintenance carrier NOT a fleet carrier capable of operating aircraft; HMS Colossus 'served' in the Pacific as much as USS Ranger did - you either include both or exclude both but not one and not the other; HMS Unicorn was a light carrier at best, she was built as a maintenance carrier and pressed into service, certainly not a fleet carrier; it is HMS IMPLACABLE, spelling still wrong and why are any of the UK Colossus class ships included anyway as they were light carriers too? If you are going to include HMS Hermes, one of the aircraft carriers with the smallest aircraft capacity in the whole war, then you should include almost every other carrier, certainly Hosho, Ryujo, Ryuho, Chitose, Chiyoda, Zuiho, Shoho and the US CVLs. Finally, Hiyo and Junyo were full fleet carriers, not light carriers, they carried more planes than the Colossus class!

There is so much confusion caused by deciding what is and what is not a light carrier in navies that did not conveniently number then as the USN did, it would be simply better to include them as they did operate as front-line fleet carriers and just exclude the escort carriers
