"A Cry in the Dark" should be acceptable for "Evil Angels".

Thanks, I've added that as an acceptable answer, I had no idea it had another name.

Just thought you'd like to know that she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for Adaptation, and Best Actress for Music of the Heart.

Many thanks, let's attribute that to a clerical error :)

Looking at this list, I think it has just become customary to nominate her for any role that wouldn't be up for a Razzie. Sure she is a good actress, but not this good.

I sorta have to disagree. I really like her as an actress and a person. I think that she could read the Milwaukee phone book in a Vietnamese accent and I'd think it was great. I'm just sorry that she isn't on here for "Mamma Mia" maybe for this year's sequel - "Here We Go Again".

She is absolutely this good. I don't think a single actor, male or female, comes close to Meryl Streep. Maybe Brando, but I think a lot of his success on-screen comes from his irrepressible charisma (in addition to great acting chops). Streep is pure acting.

I disagree as well. No one's movies are 100% winners. But when Meryl Streep gets it right, it's REALLY right.

I admit it's been a while since I've seen it, but isn't it a little odd that she was considered a supporting actress for playing one of the title Kramers in Kramer vs. Kramer?

The distinction between actors and supporting actors is becoming more and more absurd. Either the definitions should be clearly established in terms of screen-time or number of lines, or the categories should be removed.

You do raise an interesting point. Despite the title, Mrs. Kramer (i.e., Streep) isn't in the movie all that much. It's mostly about Mr. Kramer trying to raise his son after the divorce. So, in that sense, Streep's role is definitely "supporting" in that movie. But she's also the most important female character, so...the female lead. I'd actually say that yes, she's better called a supporting actress than lead actress in Kramer vs. Kramer, but as rocamorar noted, it's certainly up for debate because there is no hard and fast criteria on which to apply these labels.
