Guess the 10 best most underrated players in the history of the NBA, players we don't think of and we don't speak a lot. Players from the 80s and before are obviously higher in the ranking because the media coverage was not the same as today. These players could be in the top players conversation but are ofter forgotten or mentionned at the end
Maravich? Are you kidding me? He averaged 3.7 turnovers a game for his career. He had a season where his per48 minutes TOs were 5.8 (vs. 7.9 assists). If anything, he was Allen Iverson before Allen Iverson.
First, it's not ranking the best players but the most underrated. Bastien ranked him at the second place, it's a player he really like and probably isn't 100% impartial. But it's true that we NEVER heard about him and was a very very good player.
Also, a part of what you said about the turnovers is wrong, he didn't averaged 3.7 TO a game for his career, but for his last 3 seasons, as this stat was not counted during the 7 seasons he played before. But yes maybe it would have been more than 3.7 TO/G with the stats of the early 70s
And also, everything is not about stats, but also about the feeling you have watching him play, in the 70s, maybe one of the decade we don't know a lot about with the 50s. And his play style was really different from the stars at this time, really spectacular, and back at the time I really think he had an impact on the NBA
Ok so I have some things to say to that.
