All ABOUT JEOPARDY!

Hello guys! This blog will tell you all about the action-packed American trivia game show Jeopardy! It will cover the facts, hosts, leaderboard, as well as history. I hope you will enjoy this blog!

Introduction

Jeopardy! is an American, action-packed trivia game in which 3 contestants battle to get money by answering questions. If you guess the question correctly, you get a specified amount of money.  The winner gets to keep on going every day until he/she loses.

Gameplay

The game Jeopardy! is a daily game. It is played all days of the week except the weekends. The game has 3 rounds: regular Jeopardy!, Double Jeopardy!, and Final Jeopardy!.

Regular Jeopardy has normal amounts of money. If you answer a question correctly by buzzing in, you get a specified amount of money. If you get the question correct, you also get to choose the next question. If you get the question wrong, however, you lose the same amount of specified money.

In Double Jeopardy!, the amount of money is double and you add on to your score of regular Jeopardy! The same rules follow, the only major exception being that Double Jeopardy! has 2 daily doubles. If you buzz on a hidden daily double, you can bet an amount, you get the money if you answer it correctly, but you lose that much if you answer it wrong.

In Final Jeopardy!, a category is given and then you have to make your wagers. After a commercial break, the question is asked and the host goes around asking for answers. Same with Daily Doubles:  you get the money if you answer it correctly, but you lose that much if you answer it wrong.

At the end, the winner goes on to play again, and the losers are out.

History

The idea of a game similar to the modern Jeopardy! began in the 1950s. The first incarnation premiered on NBC on March 30, 1964. Art Fleming was the host of the show back then. The bad thing was that it got some bad ratings and failed miserably. But it came back in 1983 with Alex Trebek being the host. The gameplay changed a little and the contestant room became a little nicer. In 2005, Ken Jennings broke the all-time record of most days won in a row. And in 2013, a computer named Watson played in Jeopardy and won big! The game lives on today has a fun game to watch in many American households, and if not, around the world.

About some of the players (Top 3)

Ken Jennings is named the greatest Jeopardy champion of all time, having won 72 games in a row and racked up a total of 2.5m dollars. However, when he played Jeopardy 16 years ago, it was a much easier game. He now is highly prided and even moderated for a couple of weeks.

James Holzhauer is an avid contestant that has won over 30 days and might be the best better of all time on Jeopardy! He bets extraordinary amounts and has a record for the most won in a game - 131 thousand. If it wasn't for his betting, he could've lasted way longer.

Julia Collins sets the record for the women with the highest streak. In the 20 games, she has gotten over 420 thousand! She is very nice and funny and has often made the host laugh.

Fun facts

- The exclamation mark is part of the show´s name. Dont get confused!

- Art Fleming was actually the original host, not Alex Trebek.

- Currently, Jeopardy! is looking for new hosts to replace the beloved Alex Trebek who passed away in Nov. 2020.

- The catchy Jeopardy! theme song—called, “Think!”—was written by Merv Griffin, a Musician.

Who wants to be a millionaire is a different game, which is more like a classic quiz show.

In Jeopardy, there is a board of questions you can choose from, without knowing what the questions are. There is some money attached to each question, which you know, and there is also a category for each question. Knowing this, you can choose a "question", and will be given a description of something, and you have to tell what it describes. That's the basic rules, sorry if that was complicated.
