Ender's Game- I know saying this is a cliche, but the book was so much better.

Agreed. They completely missed major themes and shoehorned in scenes from the book that had no sensible place in the (terrible) story they were trying to tell.

I refuse to see it.

If it makes you feel better, seeing the movie made me really interested in reading the books. Yes, I could tell they tried to cram a lot into the film, which is always a problem with doing a book-to-film, but it was still good enough that the plot and characters really grabbed my attention.

this is why i follow the code of either A. dont read, or B. see the movie first that way the book is that much better later and you dont end up hating the movie

I didn't hate the movie it was just not nearly as well done. The pacing, mostly, was just terrible.

Wow, that is a serious spoiler on Easy Rider. You could probably drop the last part.

I wrote the Erin Brockovich clue the way I did because that's the way she is portrayed in the movie. In real life, many people doubt the merits of her case. Cancer rates in the town of Hinckley have not been higher than normal.

As long as you're striving for accuracy, the cancer-causing agent in the drinking water was actually hexavalent chromium (chromium 6), which is very different than your run-of-the-mill chromium - a dissolved metal present in most groundwater that has no carcinogenic effects.

Drew a blank on Enter the Dragon. Very disappointing as I like Bruce Lee a lot. The fight scene in the room of mirrors is unforgettable.

"What about Movie X" comments are super annoying, but... what about Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind? That was the first E movie that came into my head and was shocked not to see it there!

I can't believe I forgot Enchanted - it's one of my favourite Disney movies, and definitely the most underrated one. Absolutely brilliant - especially since it is a parody of their own work.

Never heard of "Escape from Alcatraz" before but I just guessed the most obvious title and got it.

There were, after all, umpteen uses of the word escape in the clue. And then Escape From NY was tagged on for good measure.

I was disappointed in the lack of extra escapes in that clue..

I knew it had to be guessable since the word Alcatraz was very suspiciously avoided.

The Death Star wasn't a space ship, it was a space station. Tell Obi-Wan Kenobi it's a small moon and he'll explain it to you.

And a space station is a form of space craft.

Either description fits. The Death Star was a station for other smaller Imperial ships. But it was mobile so it was itself a ship.

How does one unthaw? (Encino Man question)

In the movie, Brendan Fraser is found in a block of ice in someone’s backyard. They take him into the garage and leave the heaters on, causing the ice to melt. I think that answers your question.

I'm pretty sure he's saying it should just be thaw, not unthaw.

Level 72

apparently it can mean either "to melt or thaw" which is rather confusing. or it can mean "still frozen; unmelted."

one of those strange words that can mean the opposite of itself in different circumstances. like nonplussed, which can mean either "surprised and confused" or "unperturbed"

I got some of the other 'the' movies but for some reason The Empire Strikes Back is so clearly 'the' in my head, it never entered my mind it could be an 'e' movie xD

I'm an idiot, I read "returns to his own kind" and thought it must be about aliens (despite the question clearly saying it's about a helper that is human) so I couldn't get "Santa Claus Conquers The Martians" out of my head.

Did anyone else think "Genius boy goes to a special Battle School to learn how to fight space aliens" works for End of Evangelion?

Encino Man is somewhat cruel because it was released as California Man in most territories outside USA and Canada.

"unthawed" would mean "refrozen" - is that really what you're trying to say...? Haven't seen the film but I'm guessing the caveman gets "thawed" in modern day Los Angeles.
